CHINA UNVEILS SIXTH-GENERATION FIGHTER JET

China is making major strides in military aviation with the test flights of two sixth-generation stealth fighter jet prototypes. One, believed to be the J-36, was seen over Chengdu with a unique tri-engine and tailless design, offering enhanced thrust and stealth capabilities. Another, possibly named J-50, was spotted near a Shenyang facility, featuring V-shaped wings. These jets are still in early testing phases but indicate an aggressive push to rival US advancements, especially following Trump’s re-election. Experts caution that the development is ongoing, but China’s public unveiling is seen as a bold signal of its growing defence capabilities.

INDIA CONDEMNS BANGLADESH HINDU LEADER’S MURDER

India has strongly denounced the abduction and brutal murder of Bhabesh Chandra Roy, a prominent Hindu minority leader in Bangladesh, calling it part of a “systematic persecution” pattern under the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government. Roy, vice-president of the Biral unit of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, was abducted from his home and later found unconscious after being assaulted. He was declared dead at a hospital. India’s Ministry of External Affairs urged the interim government to protect minorities without excuses. The incident has triggered widespread outrage from human rights groups and raised concerns over the safety of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh.

 PUTIN ATTENDS EASTER AMID WAR

Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the Orthodox Easter service in Moscow, led by Patriarch Kirill, just hours after declaring a unilateral ceasefire in Ukraine. Despite the symbolic gesture, reports suggest fighting continued on the front lines, with Kyiv dismissing the ceasefire as hollow. At the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Kirill—an ardent supporter of the Kremlin—called for peace across “historical Rus,” referring to Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. While the church urged moral conduct and nonviolence, the ongoing conflict, now in its fourth year, has claimed thousands of Ukrainian lives and displaced millions, raising questions about the ceasefire’s authenticity.

 SCIENTISTS REVEAL UNSEEN COLOUR ‘OLO’

Scientists have discovered a new colour named ‘Olo’, reportedly unseen by the human eye until now. Published in Science Advances, the research involved firing laser pulses into volunteers’ retinas to directly stimulate M cones—cells not usually triggered by natural light. Only five people have seen the colour, described as a vivid teal or peacock blue, but far more saturated. Researchers clarify that Olo cannot be recreated on screens or through conventional light. Experts say it’s unlikely that this colour will appear in everyday devices, including VR or smartphones, due to its unique method of retinal activation.

BOEING JET RETURNS FROM CHINA AMID TARIFFS

A Boeing 737 MAX aircraft originally destined for China’s Xiamen Airlines was forced to return to the U.S., reflecting escalating trade tensions between the two global powers. The move follows recent tariff hikes by Donald Trump, raising U.S. duties on Chinese goods to 145%, and China’s retaliatory 125% tariff on American products. The jet, valued at $55 million, had been awaiting delivery at Boeing’s Zhoushan completion centre. This reversal marks a significant breakdown in the aerospace industry’s once duty-free trade relationship and casts uncertainty over future aircraft deliveries as airline CEOs weigh deferrals over punitive tariffs.
