ISRAEL-HAMAS TALKS IN DOHA

An Israeli delegation, including members from Mossad, Shin Bet, and IDF, has travelled to Doha to engage in ceasefire-hostage negotiations with Hamas. The talks aim to secure a potential agreement over hostages held in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved the delegation, emphasizing the critical nature of the opportunity. However, prior discussions reportedly hit an impasse, with both sides accusing each other of reneging on terms. Qatar, which earlier mediated, halted its role in November, citing lack of cooperation from both parties. The Hostages and Missing Families Forum welcomed renewed efforts, urging both sides to capitalize on this opportunity.

EU MINISTERS VISIT SYRIA’S NEW LEADERSHIP

Baerbock emphasized EU expectations on inclusivity, tolerance, and governance reforms, urging Syria to ensure diverse representation and human rights. The ministers will visit Sednaya prison, a symbol of Assad-era abuses. The talks could reshape Syria’s international standing amid tensions over Russia’s continued presence and Iran’s reduced influence in the region.
