US President-elect Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to BRICS countries, including India, threatening a 100% tariff on goods if they move away from the US dollar for trade. Taking to his Truth Social platform, Trump demanded a commitment from BRICS nations to abandon plans for a unified BRICS currency or alternative financial systems. He emphasized that undermining the dollar’s dominance will no longer be tolerated. This comes amid BRICS efforts to enhance non-dollar transactions, with member nations encouraging local currency use under the BRICS Cross-Border Payments Initiative.
MI6 CHIEF WARNS ESCALATING TENSION IN EUROPE

He criticized reluctance to support Ukraine, indirectly addressing US President-elect Donald Trump’s stance on Kyiv aid.
US APPROVES $385 MILLION ARMS SALE TO TAIWAN
The United States has approved arms sales worth $385 million to Taiwan, including F-16 and radar system parts valued at $320 million and $65 million for tactical communication systems. The Defence Security Cooperation Agency highlighted these deals would enhance Taiwan’s defensive capabilities and maintain the operational readiness of its air fleet. RUSSIAN AIR STRIKES TARGET ALEPPO
Russian air strikes targeted Aleppo for the first time since 2016 as rebels launched a surprise attack on Syria’s largest city, sparking clashes with government forces. The assault, which forced residents to flee, led to dozens of casualties on both sides.
Opposition forces, including Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, marked significant advances, challenging the weakened Syrian government. The renewed violence comes amid broader regional turmoil, including wars in Gaza and Lebanon. Analysts suggest that the Syrian government’s reliance on Hezbollah and other allies has been complicated by simultaneous conflicts elsewhere.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs called for fair and transparent legal processes while expressing concern over rising extremist rhetoric. The incidents have sparked domestic appeals for intervention by India’s government to ensure minority protection in Bangladesh.
