Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina arrived in New Delhi on June 21 for a state visit, welcomed by Minister of State External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh. This is the first bilateral visit after the BJP-led NDA formed the government for the third time. It’s Hasina’s second trip to Delhi in less than 15 days, following Modi’s swearing-in ceremony.
Hajj 2024: Egypt targets tourism firms over pilgrim deaths.
The Egyptian government withdrew licenses of 16 tourism companies and referred them to the public prosecutor, blaming them for the deaths of Egyptian pilgrims in Mecca. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly formed a unit to address the issue. Reuters reported that at least 530 Egyptians died during this year’s pilgrimage, according to medical and security sources.
China and France launch satellite to study star explosions.
China and France successfully launched a jointly developed satellite on June 22. The satellite, aimed at studying distant star explosions, resulted from collaboration between their space agencies and scientific groups. Lifted by a Long March-2C rocket from Sichuan’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center, its mission includes investigating gamma-ray bursts to deepen insights into stellar explosions and their cosmic effects, as per Chinese media reports.
