Six persons have been detained by Hong Kong’s national security police on suspicion of posting seditious content on social media.
The accusations are the first to be made public under the city’s heavily criticized national security statute, according to a statement released by the police on Tuesday.
According to the police statement, one of the people detained was a lady who, starting in April, had been using a social media page to secretly publish posts with the assistance of five other people.
China’s Military Displays Robot Dogs
China’s military demonstrated a robot dog with an automatic gun strapped on its back during recent military exercises with Cambodia, effectively turning man’s best (electronic) friend into a killing machine.
The robot dog is controlled by a remote operator and can be seen walking, hopping, lying down, and going backwards in the two-minute footage captured during the China-Cambodia “Golden Dragon 2024” exercise.
EU States Announce Palestine’s Official Recognition
Along with Norway and Ireland, the formal recognition of a Palestinian state is “the only route to peace” in the Middle East, according to Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
Prior to a cabinet decision on Tuesday that endorsed the previously disclosed intention to recognise a Palestinian state, Sanchez gave a speech. Norway has likewise ratified its recognition, and Ireland has done the same.
