INDIA-BANGLADESH TENSIONS LOOM

Bangladesh’s National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman will lead Dhaka’s delegation to the 7th NSA-level Colombo Security Conclave in New Delhi on Nov 19–20, the interim government announced. Hosted by India’s NSA Ajit Doval, the forum — once a limited trilateral maritime dialogue — now includes Maldives, Mauritius and Sri Lanka, reflecting its growing strategic weight in the Indian Ocean.
The meeting comes at a sensitive moment: India–Bangladesh relations remain frosty after Sheikh Hasina’s departure and the installation of the Yunus-led interim government. Dhaka accuses India of sheltering Hasina, while New Delhi is increasingly concerned about rising anti-India sentiment in Bangladesh and the safety of Hindu minorities.
The conclave will centre on maritime domain awareness, counterterrorism, and disaster response — key security priorities for the region. Maldives will be represented by NSA Ibrahim Latheef, Mauritius by NSA Vivek Johri, and Sri Lanka by Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Sampath Thuyacontha.

US to Split Gaza Into ‘Green’ & ‘Red’ Zones Under Trump Plan: Report

The US military is reportedly preparing a controversial Gaza partition, dividing the strip into a “green zone” — under Israeli and international military control for reconstruction — and a “red zone” that will remain devastated and off-limits.
According to The Guardian, leaked US military planning documents reveal that international forces will first deploy alongside Israeli troops in east Gaza, with the territory split along the current Israeli-held “yellow line.” The move comes ahead of the UN Security Council vote on Nov 17, where the US seeks endorsement of President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan.
Despite Washington calling it “realistic,” critics question whether the US intends to deliver the promised political pathway that would restore Palestinian control — a core component Trump initially advertised. Skepticism remains over whether the plan ensures peace or simply reconfigures occupation under a new framework.

Trump Threatens $5 Billion Lawsuit Against BBC Over Edited Video

US President Donald Trump on Friday (Nov 14) vowed to sue the BBC for $1–5 billion, accusing the broadcaster of releasing a misleadingly edited video of one of his speeches. The threat comes a day after the BBC chairman apologised for the error but insisted it did not amount to defamation.
Trump’s legal team had earlier sent a notice to the BBC, alleging defamation over an edited clip from a speech he delivered before the January 2021 Capitol riot. Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump accused the broadcaster of “cheating” and claimed the British public was “very angry” about the incident, calling the BBC “fake news.”

China Warns Japan of “Crushing Defeat” if It Intervenes Over Taiwan

Tensions between China and Japan spiked sharply after Beijing’s defence ministry warned on Friday (Nov 14) that Japan would face a “crushing defeat” if it used force to intervene in the Taiwan Strait. The statement followed an earlier warning from China’s foreign ministry, which said any Japanese military involvement would be treated as “an act of aggression.”
Chinese Defence Ministry spokesperson Jiang Bin issued the strongest threat yet, declaring:
“Should the Japanese side fail to draw lessons from history and dare to take a risk, or even use force to interfere in the Taiwan question, it will only suffer a crushing defeat against the steel-willed People’s Liberation Army and pay a heavy price.”
